We are delighted to announce that the Women’s Flexible Ultra League has won The Lioness Award as part of England Football’s Grassroots Football Awards.

This is awarded to a club, league or project that has developed opportunities for women or girls in recreational or competitive football.

The league's structure reflects Paige and Billy’s dedication to accommodating various lifestyles, commitments and time restrictions that the modern-day woman can be challenged by. This is implemented through flexible scheduling, adaptable match formats and a supportive community ethos.

The Women’s Flexible Ultra League has attracted women who might have otherwise been unable to engage in organised football. This innovative approach has not only encouraged participation but has also fostered a sense of belonging and camaraderie among players.

It is not just a league; it represents a transformative step towards inclusivity, empowerment and flexibility within the realm of women's football. Paige and Billy envisioned and executed a visionary concept, breaking traditional barriers to create a space where women of diverse backgrounds, abilities and schedules, could participate and thrive in the beautiful game.

There is no other project like this in Sussex, it has been a pilot project and there are already plans to expand the number of teams within the league, to ensure that this project becomes a strong independent league.
