Joe McTiffen Award Winner

Coach of the Year (Female Pathway): Joe McTiffen

The England Football Grassroots Awards

We are delighted to announced that Joe McTiffen has won our Coach of the Year (Female Pathway) as part of England Football’s Grassroots Football Awards.

This Award seeks to recognise to a coach in the female game who is inclusive, encouraging and inspiring when it matters most.

Joe is the director of football at Saltdean United Women and manages the Development Squad, whilst also managing and directing the BHASVIC academy setup.

Joe does all the behind the scenes work at Saltdean such as social media, finances, pitch organisation, along with all the other hard work that you don’t see. Joe achieved huge success with the Development Squad, winning the league, the league cup and also reaching the final of another cup.

He took over when the side were struggling and has developed the successful Saltdean United Women’s team to what it is today.

The difference he’s made is not just the very successful women’s side of the club, but also the warm and comfortable atmosphere he brings, by encouraging women and girls from all over locally to play, and is one of the most supportive coaches, both on and off the pitch. Pretty much every player who has played under him would agree!

He doesn’t get paid for any of the work he does at Saltdean and all the development he gives the players, which is mind-blowing considering the amount he does.

You could ask so many people around Sussex and they would know the work and effort he puts into women’s football. The proof being the transformation of the Development Squad, while supporting the first team.
