We are delighted to announced that Nutley FC have won our Grounds Team of the Year as part of England Football’s Grassroots Football Awards.

This Award seeks to recognise a grounds team who transform poor pitches to good pitches.

Over the last two years, the hard work and dedication of the Nutley groundskeeping volunteers has enabled a complete transformation of the pitches at Fords Green. In February 2022 the team submitted a PitchPower report, which showed all three pitches as being of a ‘poor’ quality.

Fast-forward to October 2023 and the PitchPower report showed the same three pitches as having the highest ‘advanced’ quality rating. The volunteers have fully engaged with Sussex County FA, acted upon the advice of the GMA through the PitchPower report and the funding available through the Football Foundation.

The positive attitude of the club has also contributed to the tremendous turn around in the quality of the pitches, the benefit of which is enjoyed by the club’s male first team and two youth teams.

The improved quality of the pitch has cemented a positive atmosphere within the club and has meant that the pitch was in the best possible position to be played on, throughout one of the wettest winters ever.

The transformation of the pitch has been remarkable and clearly demonstrates the amazing dedication of the volunteers who have undertaken the work.
